Summer Art Institute for High School Artists
![]() |
Session A: July 8-19, 2013 Session B: July 22-August 2, 2013 This two-week summer institute in studio art is designed for talented and highly motivated high school students. The program's curriculum, created and supervised by UCLA Department of Art faculty, offers three units of UCLA college credit. Students select from one of two two-week sessions, or enroll in both sessions for a total of six units. In each session, students choose from one of the following disciplines for their studio concentration: Drawing, Painting, Photography, or Sculpture. Each session is structured around a combination of focused studio work, lectures, presentations, field trips, and a final exhibition of student work in the New Wight Gallery. |

"I would like to tell you again that my daughter is quite enjoying her time in the program. She likes her teacher and TA very much, and has enjoyed the guest speakers.
She has actually done little painting (especially compared with drawing and photography), but she feels she is gaining a lot from the experience. Her dad and I are very pleased that she is so satisfied and stimulated by the program. Thank you again for your special consideration and for all you have done for the program. "I truly enjoyed my time with the students. It was exhilarating to be with a young, eager and curious crowd. I speak to the wonder of those looking to find their voice, especially in a world of the pressure of careerism. It is fulfilling to me to give back what I found in special artists in my life."
