Admissions Information
| Students may apply for admission at the freshman level from high school or transfer from another college or university. The application filing period is November 130 for enrollment in September of the following year. Applications for admission are available at California high schools, community colleges, and via the internet at www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions. Out-of-state students may obtain applications by contacting the UCLA Undergraduate Admissions Office. Financial Aid is available for eligible students who require assistance.
Students are accepted into the department based upon evidence of creative talent and academic achievement. A portfolio of 810 images is required as well as a statement of interest and goals. Upon receipt of an application for admission, a supplemental questionnaire and detailed information concerning the portfolio requirement and statement of interest are sent to the prospective student. |

| Applicants can expect to receive details regarding the statement and portfolio in December via email. Guidelines also are available online. Screening activities occur in January and February. Freshman applicants are notified in March; transfer applications are notified in April. |
