Perlman has taught at the Royal College of Arts; Cal Arts; University of Illinois; Claremont College; Yale University; University of California, Riverside; The School of the Art Institute of Chicago; and Otis College of Art and Design. His writings have appeared in Art Journal, ArtUS, and Art Muscle. Perlman has received an Augustus Saint-Gaudens Memorial Fellowship, two National Endowment for the Arts Artists Fellowships, and the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Grant.
