Saxe has shown regularly at Garth Clark Gallery, New York, and Frank Lloyd Gallery, Los Angeles. Saxe’s work was the subject of a major mid-career survey exhibition organized by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art which traveled internationally. Other one-person exhibition venues have included the Everson Museum of Art, and the Gallery of Art at the University of Missouri, Kansas City.
Saxe’s work is seen frequently in national and international invitational exhibitions. Venues have included the J. Paul Getty Museum; the Taiwan Museum of Art; the Aichi Prefectural Ceramic Museum, Aichi, Japan; Museo Internazionali delle Ceramiche, Faenza, Italy; and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
His work is in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Brooklyn Museum; Cooper-Hewitt Museum, New York; Los Angeles County Museum of Art; Victoria and Albert Museum, London; De Young Museum, San Francisco; Seattle Art Museum; and Musée National de la Ceramique, Sévres, France.
A Fellow of the American Craft Council, the artist has received a National Endowment for the Arts Artist’s Fellowship; U.S./France Exchange Fellowships; and a Visiting Artist Fellowship at the Manufacture National de Sévres, Paris, France. Saxe is recipient of a Flintridge Foundation Visual Artists Award, and he received a Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship.
